i don't really know how to ask this but ok i met you before? from uh my world earth new york 21st century for reference but you look different? you're older and not as tall but i mean you have the same name and i'm pretty sure you both use the same suits or at least the same type of suits? i guess that's why i didn't recognize you at first sorry does any of this make sense? i know i sound crazy but i'm not lying i swear
i'm tony stark of the primary earth in the multiverse. the tony you met is an alternate of mine. kinda like how you're an alternate of my peter parker. physical and age differences between alts aren't abnormal since we're from separate worlds.
we can have the same name, same suits, and same background, but it doesn't mean we're the same person.
[ older and taller. back home, peter's never really given much thought on what he thinks he'd look like years down the line. the only thing he can hope for is that he's not as scrawny as he is now and hopefully will gain some muscle weight. he's not really holding his breath for that.
but it's still something to think about. he also wonders how much tony knows. ]
did he tell you anything? about himself? or his family
[Unfortunately for Peter, Tony is intent on keeping any answers about his alternate vague. He can understand where his curiosity stems from, but revealing too much is not necessarily a good thing. It may result in consequences and he'd rather not take that risk.]
he's told me plenty. we've known each other for a long time.
look, i know you have reason for your interest in him, but there are certain things i can't tell you.
if you're looking for a specific answer to a question, you can ask me. i just can't guarantee i'll be able to give you an answer.
[Because the way you worded your questions at the end seems like you're searching for something specific here.]
[ he is searching for something specific and it frustrates him a little, but what if his alternate didn't say anything for a reason? would it even matter in the end, when they're all stuck here on this planet with no way back home?
still, the he's told me plenty and the we've known each other for a long time parts help in giving him that last push. ]
[To his knowledge, Peter Parker doesn't know Spider-Man, no less would he be able to have relevant information on any accident during his childhood. Does it mean this kid knows him on his Earth? Possible.]
[ he swears out loud, rubbing his face with his hand. he doesn't know how to broach this, but he kind of already is, isn't he? and maybe, maybe the him from this tony's world doesn't have anything to do with spiderman at all. maybe he's just a normal guy.
but he already has a foot in the door, he might as well just keep going. it's too late to try and backpedal out of it now. ]
because i needed to know how much he told you especially since you've known him for a while.
the alternate tony knows everything but you guys are different so i guess that doesn't really count i'm not gonna say anything if you'd rather not know? idk sorry this is really weird how do you deal with it?
[He expected to have a conversation with Peter on alternates. What he never expected was for Spider-Man to get involved.]
i try not to overthink it. accept it for what it is. i know it's strange now, but you'll get used to it. and if you don't, you're going to have to learn how to.
[They're stuck here together at the moment, so there isn't much of a choice, is there?]
that's why i was asking because maybe there is a peter in the multiverse that didn't have a freak accident when he was in high school but considering my luck i kind of doubt it.
[ if this tony is anything like the tony back home, maybe he won't freak out about it. he's hoping, at least. ]
ok sorry i didn't mean to make it sound like i don't want to get to know you? because i do and not just because i know the alternate you
He understands how the multiverse works, but it's still a little hard to wrap his mind around Peter Parker and Spider-Man being the same person. It's a definite possibility and it would make sense of some things, and it's not like it could be all that surreal for his Peter t—
You know what, he's going to take his own advice and not overthink it right now. He can hash over it on his own later, at least as far as it concerns the Peter on his Earth. For now, he should focus on the Peter Parker here, who just revealed his identity to him.
[ and he'll find peter there sitting in one of the plush chairs, tapping away on his communicator. he sits up when he spots tony, slipping the communicator into his pocket. ]
[He takes a seat on the chair opposite him. This isn't the most ideal location to have this chat, but it at least looks like there aren't a lot of people around who could overhear them.]
So, [Don't mind if he cuts right to the chase.] have you told anyone else here who you are?
We have the Avengers back on my Earth. I know both Captain America and the Winter Soldier personally. [A slight pause and then:] Are you saying they know who you are as well?
[ there's a pause as he tries to figure out where to start. truthfully, he doesn't even know the entire story, only what tony told him and it wasn't a lot. ]
Okay, I don't know what your Captain America or Winter Soldier is like, but... basically what happened was, Mr. Barnes was caught up in a lot of stuff, right, and the UN apparently wanted the Avengers to sign the uh, Accords? Something like that, after the whole thing in Wakanda Mr. Stark wanted to sign it but Captain America didn't, so that kind of split everyone up for a while.
So, Mr. Stark was supposed to bring Captain America and Mr. Barnes in because they ran off somewhere after Mr. Barnes was accused of the UN bombing and subsequently killing the king of Wakanda, and they still needed to sign the Accords. And then more stuff happened and Mr. Stark somehow found me in Queens and recruited me to help him bring them in... there was like. This huge fight at the airport in Germany, and there was this guy who could turn big and small? And the Vision was there, so was Natasha...
Giving a slow shake of his head, Tony holds his hand up to stop him from further input. He needs to make sense of this entire recount of events, which means he needs more clarification on specific parts.]
What are the Accords? [He's going to regret asking, isn't he?] And what happened in Wakanda?
