[ It's dark in the apartment. There's a jacket crumpled on the floor in the entry hallway and a bag with containers of food from the bar dropped nearby, but the place is otherwise still. No disturbance in the kitchen, no signs of recently brewed tea.
The door to Stephen's room is open - rare whether he's there or not. Inside, he sits with his back against the glass window wall, knees drawn up and chest glowing through his work shirt, head tilted back as if in prayer. Blue light catches the damp tracks on his cheeks and throws them into relief. ]
